Talahi Ranked Nationally

Mrs. Senger’s Talahi third grade math class has been working hard on their “Math Fax” this year and has that effort paid off!  Math Fax is a nationwide competition in which students take four math tests throughout the school year.  Students have 30 minutes to complete 25 high level challenge math problems.  Students across the nation compete and track their scores online at www.educontest.com

Math student, Lily Huber, led the nation in the third grade division throughout the school year and finished strong!  She was awarded first place in the third grade division and first in the NATION!  Way to go, Lily.

In addition to Lily’s first place awards, other Talahi students placed in the third grade division including Rakel Munshi taking second place and Marcus Johnson taking third place.

Congratulations to Lily, Rakel and Marcus – a special thank you also to Mrs. Senger for preparing the students for the competitions.

Big News at Talahi!

Talahi is excited to announce that we have received the Coretta Scott King Book Donation Grant!  This is so special because only 3 schools in the nation received this honor.  Talahi will receive more than 100 books submitted to the 2013 Coretta Scott King Book Awards including a full set of the 2013 winner and honor titles.  The Talahi staff and students are extremely thankful to Grandpa John, who used his expertise to write this winning grant for our school.

Thank you, Grandpa John!

The Board of Education is implementing an Inclusive Decision Making process for important decisions. Currently, District 742 needs to determine whether an additional site should be considered for the Spanish Immersion program. This Inclusive Decision Making process asks for feedback from interested staff, parents and community members. The feedback received will assist the Board of Education in coming to a decision. Click HERE to provide your input. Feedback will be received through April 30th. Be sure to regularly check the Inclusive Decision Making page for future topics that will utilize Inclusive Decision Making.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE. BECOME A MATH TUTOR FOR MINNESOTA MATH CORPS RIGHT HERE AT TALAHI!

Minnesota Math Corps tutors know growth. They see it in the kids they work with. They grow along with them. Our goal is to ensure Minnesota students are algebra-ready by eighth grade and to set them up for success in a world increasingly dependent on understanding math concepts. Passing algebra is strongly linked with college attendance and graduation. Right now, nearly two in five Minnesota eighth-graders are not on track to pass this course. You have the power and the skills to change that statistic. As a Minnesota Math Corps tutor, you’ll work with children from fourth through eighth grade to provide proven research-based instruction and ultimately, guide struggling students toward increased confidence and success in math. If you have the energy and the attitude, we provide the training and support you need to help students grow their math skills. Talahi has one full time member opening for the 2013-2014 school year.
